Brave Browser

Welcome to Crypto-4-Beginners, our topic is the Brave Browser.

The Brave Browser is by far my favourite browser to use for crypto related activity.  I'll show you why...

Firstly, if you're like me and care about internet privacy, the Brave browser is exactly what you want.  Most websites and ads on the internet include software that tries to identify you.  They want to track your movements online, and then sell that data to the highest bidder.  The Brave browser blocks trackers and ads, and its three times faster than Chrome, and uses 35% less battery on mobile devices.

The Brave browser allows users to decide if they want to block ads, or to get paid for allowing ads.  Brave does work with advertisers, but the revenue paid to Brave is split 70/30 with its users in the form of Basic Attention Tokens (BAT).  Users can earn BAT by simply browsing the internet.

As a result, the Brave Browser has a built in digital crypto wallet, and allows users to connect their MetaMask digital crypto wallets.  I'll explain more on this in another section titled "Create a Digital Crypto Wallet".

Users can also access the Gemini crypto exchange, the Binance crypto exchange, the Crypto.Com exchange from the user-interface of the Brave browser.

So, lets begin.  You can download the Brave browser here: https://brave.com/

Once you've downloaded the Brave browser, we can begin to explore its features.

The first thing you'll want to do is set up your Brave Rewards. This allows you to set whether you'll choose to block ads, or allow them and get paid for that.  If you want to allow ads, you'll need to click the tab at the top right corner.  A menu will open, select "Brave Rewards".  A new page will open, scroll to where it says "Ads".

Here you will be able to enable or disable ads.  If you choose to enable, you can then set how many ads you'd like to see per hour.  The minimum is one, and maximum is five.  The ads show up a tiny pop-ups in the upper right corner, and only appear for a few seconds.  Users can engage with the ad and view it, or simply ignore it.  Either way, you'll be paid in Basic Attention Tokens (BAT).  Brave pays out every month the amount accumulated by the user.  Users also have the option to pay it forward and tip or contribute their Basic Attention Tokens to content creators.

Next, you'll want to set up your built in Brave digital crypto wallet.  This is a wallet that stores cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Basic Attention Tokens.  Again, from the main page, you can click the tab at the top right corner and a menu will open.  Select "Crypto Wallet".  A new page will open, and you'll have the option to link an existing wallet, or create a new wallet - lets create a new wallet.  You'll need to save the 12-word phrase and create a password.  Its important to make a strong password, and to save that 12-word phrase offline in a safe place.  If you ever lose the device you're using, you'll need the 12-word phrase to re-access your Brave digital crypto wallet.  We'll cover more on digital crypto wallets in the next section titled "Create a Digital Crypto Wallet".

Back on the main page of the Brave browser, at the very bottom of the page, you'll see "Scroll for Brave Today".  This is a set of daily news articles.  You can set which type of articles you'd like to see.  To do this, you'll need to click on the "Custom" tab at the bottom right corner of the screen.  A pop-up window will appear, and you can select "brave Today".  Under "Sources", you'll be able to select which subjects you'd like.  I personally turn off all other news and only select the crypto news articles because I use Brave for my crypto related activities.

And that's pretty much it for this section.
You can explore the Brave Browser more on your own, or if you have questions, please contact me on our contact page for the 1-0n-1 Zoom tutorial, or message me on Facebook via our group page DocCrypt0's Futurist Topics.
